Greenpeace - Greenpeace: How a group of Ecologists,Journalists and Visionaries changed the world
Greenpeace: How a group of Ecologists,Journalists and Visionaries changed the world
Thhis book is a dazzling feat of impassioned storytelling. Weyler conjures the feel of an entire era -- sketching the disparate ideas, the hair-raising events, and the motley crew of inspired eccentrics who precipitated a wild metamorphosis in the collective mindscape.

    Greenpeace - Greenpeace
    Greenpeace
Greenpeace is one of the most important environmental groups and this book illustrates why. It's a history of the triumphs and conflicts that plagued the organization since its inception. Initially I was shocked at how uncoordinated Greenpeace seemed to be, but I respect the author for openly revealing these deficiencies. The organization was forced to evolve in the tactics they used, as they constantly expanded to fight new nuclear and environmental threats.

Greenpeace - The Greenpeace to Amchitka: An environmental Odyssey
The Greenpeace to Amchitka: An environmental Odyssey
Robert Hunter died May 2nd, 2005, shortly after this book was published. I have every book he ever published; every damn one of them is a trip to read, like you're sitting in a bar with this great storyteller and he cannot stop talking - and you don't want him to! Bob was a great storyteller, and this one about the first-ever Greenpeace voyage (indeed, before there even was a Greenpeace!) is as good as anything he ever wrote. Bob was as alive as any man who walked the earth. An incredibly insightful writer who knew how important "getting the story out" was to the cause. It has been said that without Bob Hunter there never would have been a Greenpeace. I agree totally. He wrote with an intensity and with great humor, but never as an outsider.

Greenpeace - Making Waves: The orgin and future of Greenpeace
Making Waves: The orgin and future of Greenpeace
With a few thousand dollars scraped together through a charity Joni Mitchell and James Taylor concert, a raggle taggle collection of hippies and peace activists charter a leaky fishing boat and set off to stop a nuclear bomb. This is a very personal account of one of Greenpeace's founders: the story of his flight from weapons work, his move to Canada to shield his son from the Vietnam war, his providing a safe house for other peace protestors in Vancouver, and his lifelong committment to peace, alternative energy, and stepping lightly on the earth. And the famous journey of the first Greenpeace vessel.

Greenpeace - The Greenpeace Book of Water
    The Greenpeace Book of Water
This book is unlike any of the other books I have read from the Greenpeace stable. It is a complete appraisal of the subject of water - and a most expert appraisal it is too. Naturally, the emphasis is on conservation - but that is just as it should be. After all, where would all life be without water?

Greenpeace - Greenpeace Witness: Twenty-Five years on the Environmental Front Line
Greenpeace Witness: Twenty-Five years on the Environmental Front Line
I though it was an exquisite and informative history of the organization and documentary of the state of the world's environment. My only complaint was that the typeface was too small. But I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to know more about Greenpeace or the environmental movement.

Greenpeace - The Greenpeace book of the North Sea
The Greenpeace book of the North Sea
This is another book from the Greenpeace stable with an emphasis on conservation - and quite right too! Anything and everything to do with the North Sea is included here. Shipbuilding, seaweed harvesting, day-trips to the beach, the oil industry, fishing and, of course pollution. Expertly laid out so that the reader is able to build on the knowledge gained from what has been read so far, we commence with the sea's hidden wealth and the human tide of invasion. The author then compares the present with the past before detailing the huge varieties of marine life to be found.

    Greenpeace - The Last Whale
    The Last Whale
The book encourages people to help preserve marine life. Whaling should be stopped once and for all.

    Greenpeace - Greenpeace (Hardcover)
    Greenpeace (Hardcover)
The organization currently addresses many environmental issues with a primary focus on efforts to stop global warming and the preservation of the world's oceans and ancient forests. In addition to conventional environmental organization methods, such as lobbying businesses and politicians and participating in international conferences, Greenpeace uses nonviolent direct action in many of its campaigns.
